Who is The Progressive Slate?
The progressive slate is a group of nonprofit organizations that are working together to win the Pepsi Refresh Everything contest.... SO THEY SAY...

What we know:
* the fact that Slate project budgets are mostly for salaries, which makes it clear the organizations are not all-volunteer as most other Refresh projects are.

* the fact that Slate voters NEVER support any other Refresh projects, even though they are in their backyard.

* the fact that there are Slate voters who have no respect for Pepsi as a responsible corporation that is trying to find ways to give back to local communities.

But what is the REAL story?  Is The Progressive Slate political and breaking the rules of the Refresheverything contest? You decide...

Ironically, the PS shares an office suite with an organization called The Common Cause, whose vision statement states:

Common Cause serves as an independent voice for change and a watchdog against corruption and abuse of power.

• Curb the excessive influence of money on government decisions and elections and illuminate the connections between lobbying money coming in and government expenditures going out;
• Promote fair, honest and transparent elections;
• Hold government officials accountable for working within the rule of law and under high standards of ethical conduct;

So does Common Cause know that it's office mate is the person it is supposed to be protecting the little guy from? Or Are The Common Cause and The Progressive Slate one and the same? Why do they share a Facebook Page? http://www.facebook.com/pages/Common-Cause-Center-for-Progressive-Leadership/111011365591022?sk=info

From the rules of the Pepsi Refresh Everything contest:

"Limit one (1) Application per Participant per Profile during the Grant Program Period."

The Progressive Slate is backing many of these charities -- do they STILL count as one participant?

What does the Progressive Slate have to gain from backing these charities? Couldn't it use it's superior organizational and legal skills to apply for actual (i.e. non contest) grants available to charities that require detailed knowledge of grant writing -- grants that are difficult to get for the average "little charity" that applies for a Pepsi grant, but would be simple for a larger charity that knows how to apply for grants. What is the Progressive Slate's motivation for screwing the little guy? Just because they can?

This is the big question here, because there is a lot of money to be had by charities who know where and how to go through the complicated grant writing process to get it. The Progressive slate has shown that it is clearly capable of applying for these more complicated grants. Why not help its' pet charities apply for these, instead of tampering with the grass-roots spirit of the Pepsi Refresh Grant in an unethical, methodical, despicable way.

Where do the Progressive Slate charities come from? Are they aware they are getting into bed with professional grifters? It is a black eye on these charities to be affiliated with organized scammers who are bilking community organizations, schools, and grassroots efforts from all across the country.

From part 8: Applications CANNOT to any degree:

involve political advocacy – acts and intentions to advance a particular political party, candidate and/or cause or to support lobbying for any particular party, candidate and/or cause, or to expand membership or to encourage membership for a particular political party, candidate or lobbying effort;
involve furtherance or expansion of a particular political policy or agenda or social policy or agenda with legislative implication;

So applications cannot be political, but yet the Progressive slate is clearly political, as are many of the websites of the "Terrible Ten" Progressive Slate Charities.

Pepsi knows about the Progressive Slate -- why do they continue to let a blatant rule breaker tarnish their contest? How does Pepsi benefit from a Liberal group creating and picking pet charities for the sole purpose of milking the Pepsi Refresh Grant?

Here is the Profile of Progressive Slate Communications Director Toby Chaudhuri (Communications Director at Campaign for America's Future) copied and pasted from their website:

Toby Chaudhuri directs communications at the Campaign for America's Future's Washington headquarters. He works with progressive organizations, political campaigns and people in public office to develop messages and strategies to communicate with the public and influence public policy.  Haudhuri has managed more than $30 million total in state and federal campaigns and has worked at the helm of national media operations. He fought corruption to enact historical campaign finance reforms directing strategic communications at Common Cause;  took on corporate polluters to provide safe drinking water and clean air as a political appointee to President Clinton; and worked to elect several principled state and federal candidates including serving as deputy press secretary to Al Gore's 2000 presidential campaign.

Did Toby get tired of "sticking up for the little guy" at Common Cause and decided he'd rather "stick it to the little guy" from the next cubicle down in the office?

So is TOBY the Progressive Slate driving force?  We may never know...
December 2011 The Progressive Slate has teamed up with 10 "ideas" (mostly borderline political ideas) that are in the $50k tier and plans to take the top 10 winning $500,000 leaving 0 room for the many ideas who want a fair fight in the game & have a real chance of winning. They are only supporting 1 $25k Tier because during the month of November they tested their voting strategy with taking 6 spots in the $25k tier to get ready for December.

This is unethical.

The $50k ideas that are partnered with The Progressive Slate are:

Envirolution
Train Youth Leaders
Giving low income kids paid internships
Start a Courage Campaign Camp
Grow Green
Homeless Veterans
Poor people in Ohio
Leaders of tomorrow
Enhance nonprofits in Arizona

$25k Idea supported by The Progressive Slate

Jobs & Unemployed Workers

Some of these ideas may be worth helping but NOT while connected to The Progressive Slate. They came into the Pepsi contest know that no other idea stood a chance in the $50k rankings. Only Progressive Slate ideas would win. That is unethical and WRONG!! Without the Slate's  help would they win, probably not.  How does the Slate get so much support? By working side by side, hand in hand with the political group Common Change so it seems. After all, they do all sit by each other when they walk into work everyday.

Who Sends Out a letter to their fans congratulating themselves for bilking real grassroots charities out of over 2 million dollars?

THE PROGRESSIVE SLATE MAYBE?

They say they are for the little guy, but they are really a liberal political machine whose main goal is to bilk real "little guy" charities out of millions of dollars. They hurt kids with cancer, they hurt high school bands, they hurt people in wheelchairs. And they congratulate themselves for doing it.
